What do you like best about this course?:

The awesomeness of the professor

Professor Koser is a great professor, he is super helpful and wants all of his students to do well.

The material is really interesting, and Prof K is very relaxed and a great instructor! He makes the material easy to understand even if some of it is a little complex, his methods are really effective and conducive to learning because he does practice problems in class with us

The content are interesting

I liked how the first class of the week we had was lecture then the second was like a recitation style. It gave us the opportunity to really work in class in groups and figure out the material.

I liked learning about all of the different aspects of linguistics.

I like the professor himself.

Great course with a dive into all the main subfields of Linguistics

I liked the lectures and handouts, I found them very easy to understand and follow along.

I definitely enjoyed having the different aspects of the linguistics and how they all influence each other to create one fluid language.

Organization and subject matter

Straightforward.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

Have more assessments, like quizzes, more frequently rather than just two exams

Nothing much

I would do it the same. I like the structure of lecture followed by recitation.

No tests. Just homeworks.

N/A, taught very well

If I was teaching this course, I would probably include a bit more real life examples and scenarios to have everyone better understand the concepts.

NA

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

He challenges us in a way to think outside the box but still learn the material

He is super supportive and tells you what you can do in life with linguistics.

I now want to take more linguistics classes

It has made me really interested in Linguistics, that I have been inspired to change my major to Linguistics, hoping to pursue Speech Pathology!

It made me want to pursue a degree in linguistics.

I learned a little about linguistics.

Prof. Koser helped the students very much and provided all the resources necessary in order for our success!

This course really helped me understand the intricacies of linguistic theory far better than any previous course.

He has encouraged intellectual growth by the way he explains that linguistics is the way any language is created, even if they have different origins.

To consider language and its construction on daily basis.

Other comments or suggestions::

Great course, 10/10

None, Professor Koser was awesome and I wish he was teaching more classes next year!

Nope.

Very sweet and understanding professor, did a great job teaching with a good bit of light humor throughout the semester :)
